Pavilion of Time Suspended in Colour, 2025
The metal sculpture titled ‘Pavilion of Time Suspended in Colour’ draws inspiration from the light forms of garden gazebos and pavilions, as well as from crinolines and birdcages. The oversized ribbons hanging from the structure evoke the fluttering ribbons of garments once worn by the garden’s past visitors. The work suggests a moment of time frozen
at an undefined instant.
Alicja Bielawska invites viewers into a world of imagination and memory, where shapes can change according to their own logic, and bright colours emerge as flashes of recollection. The artist is interested in the varied ways we perceive reality, which is why the sculpture’s unusual proportions encourage a shift in the perspective from which we view our surroundings.
The installation accompanies the temporary exhibition ‘The Marvels of the Royal Łazienki’. presented in the Podchorążówka building.
